This custom wooden display stand features six tiers showcasing a collection of hand-painted magic lantern glass slides. Dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, pieces originating from the prominent London optical firm Harris & Co. of Holborn were used to present optical views featuring comic, circus, and animal subjects. The piece is constructed of solid wood and remains structurally sound. The wood exhibits surface scuffs, wear, and fading consistent with age, while paint loss on the non-removable slides is very minimal and there are no visible structural cracks.
