KAN Ho is an artist born in China in 1932.
Ho Kan (July 23, 1932) is a painter from China. He is the founder of the avant-garde art movement Ton Fan Group. He paints in the abstract style. Ho Kan was born in Nanjing, China, and grew up in Taiwan.

Ho Kan integrates Eastern calligraphy and the art of seal carving with a minimalist yet poetic visual language to develop his distinctive, Eastern lyrical abstraction. He starts with elemental points, and, from them, he creates his own philosophy about the arrangement of the image, validating the existence of each element.

About the artist

Ho Kan (born 1932), born in Nanjing, China, is a Chinese painter best known for his work in lyrical abstraction. He grew up in Taiwan and in 1956 co-founded the Ton Fan Group, one of the first abstract art movements in Taiwan. In 1964, he moved to Milan, Italy, where he has lived and worked since.

Ho Kan integrates Eastern calligraphy and the art of seal carving with a minimalist yet poetic visual language to develop his distinctive approach to abstraction. He works with elemental points and geometric forms, creating compositions that validate the existence of each element through careful arrangement. His practice combines geometric abstraction with calligraphic symbols, developing a philosophy about the organization of the image that bridges Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

His work is held in the collections of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and the M+ Museum in Hong Kong. In 2016, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum presented a major survey exhibition of his work titled "Reverberations ? Ho Kan." Ho Kan's role as co-founder of the Ton Fan Group established him as a significant figure in the development of abstract art in Taiwan and the broader Asian avant-garde movement.
