A characterful antique tripod side table with genuine age and a wonderful old surface. The octagonal plank top with chamfered corners carries a lifetime of honest wear - scars, scrubbing, old plugs, and a deep, uneven patina that no one could reproduce. It sits on a turned baluster column that steps down to an octagonal base block, from which three shaped, arching snake legs sweep out and down.

The construction is right: the legs are sliding-dovetailed into the column and locked with wooden pegs (clearly visible in the detail photos) - the correct period method - and the top is mounted on a hand-shaped cleat. Beneath the dark surface the base retains lovely old green/teal paint, worn back over the years to exactly the depth of color collectors and decorators hunt for.

Small, useful, and full of character - an ideal side table beside a chair or sofa, and equally at home as a drinks table, lamp table, plant stand, or bedside table. Brings real age into a room without taking up space.

Condition: Solid and stable. Honest antique wear throughout - please review all photos closely: heavy wear and marks to the top, old plugs/repairs, paint loss, and shrinkage. The leg ends show exposed raw wood (see photos).
