This signed substantial, hand blown Lithuanian Glass Nuvo studio centerpiece bowl showcases the skilled artistry of Algimantas Aleksandras Zilys (1936-2009). He was a pioneering force in Lithuanian studio glass, establishing the foundation for modern artistic glassblowing in the region.

It stands approximately 7 1/2 inches tall and reaches 11.5 inches across at its widest point, giving it a commanding, sculptural presence. The form is deeply cupped with thick, weighty walls and a rounded, stable base, asymmetrical rim, tapering sharply at one end to create an organic, teardrop shaped opening when viewed from above.

The exterior coloration is richly layered. Broad horizontal bands of amber brown and deep eggplant purple wrap the vessel in alternating stripes, each infused with translucent smoky yellow swirls that drift through the glass like suspended ribbons. These marbled currents interact with cooler mauve and light purple oil slick patterns, producing a dynamic interplay of warm and cool tones across the surface. Earthy brown green ribbons encircle portions of the body, adding depth. The highly polished finish amplifies these colors, catching ambient light and revealing the complexity of the layered glass.

Viewed from above, the interior presents a striking contrast: a smooth, opaque cloudy white basin, visually separating itself from the bold exterior striping.
