Description
Large scale batik painting on cotton, skillfully hand drawn using the canting and tulis technique. This technique uses hot wax applied from the canting's tiny, downward-curved spouts onto the cloth and then painted. Attributed to the Japanese artist, M. Yono, considered a master of this process. The painting features abstract vegetation with butterfly shaped leaves in a colorful palette of blues, lavender and sand.. It is signed Ciphoning (describes a type of batik design) Nicely framed under glass with a double mat and a black lacquered frame.
