Striking and highly decorative dining set by Aldo Tura, Italy, comprising a square dining table and four matching chairs. The table features Tura’s signature parchment finish with a dramatic central panel in rich brown tones, framed by a cream parchment border decorated with vibrant playing card motifs. The sculptural legs are elegantly tapered, showcasing the luxurious lacquered goatskin technique for which Tura is celebrated. The four chairs echo the table’s playful yet refined character. Each chair features a high, slender back with parchment panels decorated with oversized playing cards, set within dark stained wooden frames. The seats are upholstered in green fabric, providing a bold contrast to the warm tones of the lacquered structure and parchment details. Brass stud detailing adds a subtle decorative accent.
Aldo Tura (1909–1963) was one of Italy’s most distinctive mid-century designers, renowned for his innovative use of lacquered goatskin (pergamena) and luxurious finishes. Working in Milan, Tura created glamorous, sculptural furniture that combined traditional craftsmanship with bold decorative flair. His pieces are highly collectible and remain icons of Italian mid-century design.
