Antique 20th Century Norwegian set of six Norwegian silver and enamel spoons. Each spoon is of elegant elongated form, the spoon bowls and handles ornamented with finely worked guilloché enamel in a delicate mint green tone. The translucent enamel reveals a beautifully textured engine turned ground beneath. The upper section of each bowl is particularly distinctive, decorated in opaque white enamel with a stylised fan or sunburst motif above a band of circular dots, all divided by polished silver lines. The same decoration is repeated at the terminals of the handles. The combination of geometric ornament and soft pastel enamel gives the spoons a strong Scandinavian character, sitting stylistically between the late Art Nouveau and emerging Art Deco periods. Presented in their original retail box by Pearce & Sons, based in Leeds. Each hallmarked "925" (Sterling Silver), London import markings and sponsor initials HJH (Henry James Hulbert).

Henry James Hulbert was a London silversmith and importer whose HJH sponsor’s mark was registered in 1910. He became particularly associated with the importation of finely made Norwegian silver and guilloché enamel wares, including spoons, boxes and other small luxury objects, with documented examples by leading Norwegian makers such as Marius Hammer. His mark on such pieces denotes the British importer or sponsor responsible for submitting the foreign-made silver for assay, rather than necessarily identifying the original Scandinavian maker.

In Good Condition - There is significant enamel damage to one spoon with enamel losses to the handle portion. Please refer to photographs.
