Antique 19th Century Austrian .986/1000 grade gold 1 Ducat coin, featuring Emperor Franz Joseph I. This coin is a historic trade coin and was struck in exceptionally high purity gold, it remains one of the most recognisable European fractional gold coins. The 1915 date is the traditional frozen date used for Austrian Ducat restrikes. The gold coin came from the Austrian mint. The right facing laureate portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I surrounded by the Latin imperial legend FRANC IOS I D G AVSTRIAE IMPERATOR. The rear bearing the crowned double headed Imperial eagle bearing the Austrian arms, surrounded by the royal titles and date 1915. Gold purity .986 (23.66ct).
