Antique 20th Century Waltham Half Hunter pocket watch, housed in a quality Dennison 10ct gold filled case, made in England. The watch is presented in the classic Half Hunter style, with a hinged front cover incorporating a central glazed aperture and an outer chapter ring with bold black Roman numerals. Opening the front cover reveals the Waltham U.S.A. dial, featuring a classic arrangement of Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track and a subsidiary seconds/minute dial positioned at 6 o’clock. The traditional dial layout is characteristic of period Waltham pocket watches and complements the English made case. The case was manufactured by Dennison, one of the best known English makers of quality watch cases. The rear is engraved with the original guarantee: “ENGLISH MAKE GUARANTEED TO BE MADE OF TWO PLATES OF 10CT GOLD WITH PLATE OF COMPOSITION BETWEEN AND TO WEAR 20 YEARS.” Case serial number: 568016. This is a great example of Anglo-American watchmaking. A very presentable period pocket watch with strong decorative appeal, suitable for the established collector or as an attractive addition to a collection of Waltham, Dennison or antique gold filled pocket watches.
