Antique 20th Century Norwegian set of six silver gilt and guilloché enamel coffee spoons by Marius Hammer of Bergen, dating to the early 20th century and retaining their original fitted presentation case. The spoons are decorated throughout in a striking blue translucent enamel, laid over finely worked guilloché grounds. The reverses of the bowls display an exceptionally effective radiating pattern, the engine turned lines spreading out from the base of each bowl to create an almost feather like appearance beneath the enamel. The slender tapering handles are similarly enamelled over fine linear guilloché decoration. Each spoon is gilded, providing a rich contrast with the blue enamel, while the junctions between bowl and handle are picked out with elegant silver-gilt mounts of restrained Art Nouveau character. Presented in the original fitted case, the cream silk lining: “Juvélér M. Hammer, Strandgaten, Bergen” Each hallmarked "930S" (930/1000 purity silver), Maker's mark "M" with a hammer icon through the middle. (Marius Hammer).
