This is a Museum Deaccession lot. 7" T x 10 1/2" L. tagged "Caesar EV 1910" Wire Hair Terrier Dog with swivel neck, glass eyes. White mohair with brown mohair ears. Silver raised button with second "F" wrapped under the word Steiff. Original leather collar with brass medallion that reads: STEIFF CAESAR, E. VII. 1910. Provenance from the Royal Collection Trust's Post : A favorite pet of King Edward VII was a terrier named Caesar. Caesar was extremely loyal to his owner, quickly becoming well known within the Court for his disregard for everyone except the King. Upon the death of King Edward VII on 6 May, 1910, Queen Alexandra decided that Caesar should be present at the funeral. On 20 May, he took his place in the funeral procession, in front of the Heads of State which included King George V and eight other monarchs. Condition: mohair is worn but this is still a wonderful dog with a great history! It is being sold AS IS.
