Description
The base of this French Art Nouveau lamp is made from nickel-plated bronze and features floral motifs. The glass shade is both frosted and clear to accentuate the floral design. It was made by the famous French glass maker, Pierre Gilles, but it isn't signed, as was sometimes the case. The lamp has been beautifully rewired and still retains the original bakelite switch. It requires a 110-volt B22 pygmy light bulb (included). This lamp dates to the early 20th Century and is in very good condition for its age. There is some loss to the nickel plating. The shade is made from very heavy glass and is in good condition except for a few chips around the opening (see picture 8), which aren't visible once the metal cover is in place. The total height of the lamp is 14" and the base measures 4.75" wide and 3.5" deep. The glass shade is 6" tall and the diameter at the bottom is 4.5". The beauty of this lamp is revealed when it's illuminated at night, creating a cozy ambience.
