Got geometry?!

This downright sculptural French cheese or candy or whatnot box with tray exemplifies the Art Deco attention to geometric forms.
Here we see parallel lines, rectangles, squares, diagonal lines, even a curve (for relief?) - and of course exquisite wood and chrome-plated, solid brass! In other words, the whole enchilada (somehow that sounds wrong in describing a French item, but I'll stick with it).

Use it for some food presentation, or a jewelry box, or...?

It's in excellent condition, the only "flaw" being an area on the tray underneath where there's some superficial scratching - looks like little Pierre had some fun one day. This particular antique dealer sees "flaws" merely as testimony to age, use, and la condition humaine.

Dimensions: including the tray and its handles, 10 inches wide, 5 1/2 deep, 4 1/2 high (including the wood finial).
