Description

Horse racing watercolor by John Groth (New York 1908-1988). "Upset, Roosevelt Raceway" watercolor on paper, signed and titled lower right.

Roosevelt Raceway near Westbury, NY on Long Island operated from the 1940s to the 1980s and was a harness racing track. In the painting, the sulky has overturned and the horse has gone down.
