Wonderful haunting oil portrait of Dutch male. This was painted by listed artist Claudia Dobbins. Signed by artist au recto bottom right and au verso. Dobbins was a long-time resident of Los Angeles. She studied there for four years at Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes, four years in Norfolk, and five years at the ASL of NYC under George Bridgman and Frank Vincent DuMond. She was mysterious and secretive about her works and seldom sold any of them. Her paintings are rarely seen. Her name was Urquhart at the time of her death in Los Angeles on Oct. 29, 1969. This painting is framed in gilded frame with red velvet trim. Lovely!!
