This is a very nice antique apple glazed stoneware crock/jug. The blue design on the front represents apples; thus it is an apple crock. These would have been used for storage of food goods back in the day and this is the real deal - not a reproduction. The mouth of the jug is 4" across with the opening about 2 1/2". Very nice and substantial without any major chips or cracks - amazing give its utilitarian use and age. It's probably from the mid 1800s. It's a great primitive.
