Whymper (Edward) Autograph letter signed ("Edward Whymper")

The letter, to Mr Pocock, reads "My 'bedroom collection' is hanging up in my study..., and includes the two Scorpions, which I take to be young and adult of one species. They are at your service, and at your service, and if you find the species is a new one, and you will describe it, the specimen can be incorporated in the Brit. Mus, collection, gratis, but if the species is already known, I should like the specimen returned. I have taken the Nat. Hist. collection out of the hands of Burton - who did very little with them - ad have the balance of the scorpions here and you are perfectly at liberty to examine them, and to purchase any. If you like to send for them either on Saturday or Monday, here between 10-12, they can be had, otherwise they must wait until my return", two pages, folding marks, some discolouration, 8vo, St Martin's House, 29 June 1893.
