Cerdan (Marcel) Signed photograph

Vintage black and white photograph by Harcourt of the French welterweight and middleweight champion, signed in fountain pen on the right-hand side of the image, some soiling and handling wear, otherwise in fine condition.

***On October 28, 1949, Cerdan boarded an Air France flight from Paris to New York to visit Edith Piaf, who was performing there at the time and with whom he was in a relationship at the time. The airplane tragically crashed into Mount Redondo in the Azores, killing everyone on board.

Authentic signatures by Cerdan are quite scarce.
