The letter, written on monogrammed stationery to Mrs Taylor, reads "I was so horrified to hear of your accident and the result of it - what a tragic thing to happen. I hope that my flowers arrived and I wanted to write also to say how much you are in my thoughts. This comes with my love and support", two pages, mid-horizontal folding mark, browning and discolouration, 8vo, Kensington Palace, 16 October 1990.
***The letter is addressed to Esther Taylor, the vendor's aunt. In October 1990, Esther was run over by a coach and after being taken to the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. She had to have both of her legs amputated just below the knee. Princess Diana, after learning of the terrible accident, she sent a bouquet with a gift card (included in the lot) and the letter. Also included are a photo of the vendor visiting Mrs Taylor in the hospital and a photo of the bouquet sent by the Princess of Wales.
