Britten (Benjamin) Music bars from The Rape of Lucretia

One page of eleven bars of the melody line for Collatinus to the text "If spirits not given", continuing into seven bars for the female Chorus to the text "No, no Collatinus", one bar crossed out and two corrections to the text, the whole is in Britten's hand, written in ink, one page, one folding crease, light yellowing, 4to.

Crozier produced Britten's first chamber opera for the newly formed English Opera Group and it was first per- formed at Glyndebourne in the summer of 1946, conducted by Ernest Ansermet, and with Kathleen Ferrier and Nancy Evans alternating in the title role.
