Henrietta Maria (Queen Consort of King Charles I) Signed indenture, 1663

Vellum indenture signed "Henriette Marie R." (as Queen Dowager), between Henrietta Maria and Henry Jermyn, Earl of Albans, Lord Chamberlain; Sir Kenelme Digby, Chancellor and Keeper of Her Great Seal; Sir John Wintour, Principal Secretary; Sir Charles Harbord, the King's Surveyor General; Sir Robert Long, her Surveyor General; Sir Peter Balle, Attonery General; and Sir Henry Wood, Clerk of the Green Cloth to the King's Household, of the one part (signed by all & twice by Balle & Wintour) and Thomas Panton of London. Esq.. leasing the Manor of Eltham, Kent, including the Little Park, the Mansion House, mines & quarries, etc., reciting former leases and yearly rent; 2 vellum skins joined at foot, at head fine engraved initial portrait of the Queen, Royal Arms of France, crowned fleur-de-lis and finely engraved rose, seals missing, original cords remaining where Great Seal was appended, impression of Great Seal on verso, 7 April 1663.

***Henrietta Maria returned to England in October, 1661, living in state at Somerset House. She left England in 1665 for her chateau near Paris where she died.
