Campbell (Thomas) Autograph letter signed ("T. Campbell")

The letter, to an unknown recipient, reads "Having unfortunately mislaid your address I wrote you a few days ago a note which I forwarded by Mr Boyd to our friend Jaffrey from whom I suppose it has not yet had the time to reach you. It anticipated the substance of your note which I received this morning. I mentioned that the expectation which I had cherished of the pleasure of asking you to see me had been disappointed by the circumstances of being obliged to prepare lectures to read this season in the Royal Institution on Poetry. The preparing these and a multitude of letters which I have on hand confine me so closely that I have really not two hours in a week at my own disposal. But as I mentioned in my other note the weather is so dismal that it is hardly fair to expect any friend to see me amidst my snowy common. I hope you do not leave town", two pages, trimmed along the edges with potential losses to the lower part of the page, including the date and recipient's name, remnants of previous mount, glue stains to corners, 8vo, n.p., n.d.
