An interesting group of letters, cards and photographs related to Mom Rajawongse Pantip Devakul, who married Chumbhotbongs Paribatra, Prince of Nakhon Sawan II. The lot includes: four autograph letters addressed to F.R. Vyvyan, the first reading "I wish you were here - you'd be in your element Lotus eating pure and simple. We live on the fat of the land - fat oysters and fresh venison to had for the asking. The oysters cost the equivalent of 8 shillings for 300 oysters (not 3 dozen) the venison 2 shillings per leg", Nong Khae, 25 March 1941; a second letter says "I have decided on the Institut Miner here a Villars, & transferred Marsi to it bag and baggage, on the Ist of September. The head is an exceedingly nice man & clever too. He teaches well & interestingly giving her private lessons most of the time..... I heard from Chumboy. He isn't very well, as he's got anaemia from severe piles", Villars-sur-Ollon, 3 September 1947; in the third letter she reports that "Chumboy had an operation for piles 2 years ago since then he no longer suffers from periodic anaemia due to loss of blood and his temper has slightly improved (But not much). ... People react in queer ways Chumboy and I have girded our loins for war by buying a refrigerator apiece. He bought and electric one & I bought a kerosene one, I presume we will evacuate lugging them on our backs", The Parithaba Office, Bangkok, 21 December 1950; the last letter reads "Must see you before the curtain comes down on the last act. I hate to look at myself in the mirror, my face is like a road map. I have so many wrinkles. But my legs are still in most excellent condition (touch wood) I have been ski-ing in Zermatt for three weeks", London, n.y. [c.1970]. Bangkok, [c1959]; My Life and My Interests, A gift Book for my Friends on my Sixtieth Birthday 8th March 1969, inscribed to Richard Vyvyan (from HRH), thoroughly illustrated, printed wrappers, some swear, [Bangkok, 1969]; a carved wooden female nude, possibly presented to Vyvyan by the Princess, Bali, c. 1935; a photograph signed by Princess Marsi Paribatra, only daughetr of Pantip and Chumbot; v.s.
