The letter, to an unidentified correspondent, reads "It would always give me great pleasure to forward the wishes of any friend of Mr W. Hunt, but it is out of my power in this case. I am obliged to decline all requests of this kind, else I should be continually so occupied [...] I return the book [...]I forgot to send - but have now looked over the book and put my name at page 67", one page, integral blank, folding marks, some soiling and age-related discolouration, 8vo, n.p., n.d.. ; together with an unsigned carte de visit by Elliott & Fry of Ruskin in a profile pose, and reproductions of other portraits of the scholar (8)
