Late 19th Century Peking Rug

Description

A beautiful 19th century Chinese Peking rug with a central floral medallion against a dark abrash indigo background, and surrounded by a wide stylized lotus and scrolling vine pattern. The field is abrash, meaning the variation in colors is intentional and happens when a weaver runs out of one dye lot and switches to another midway through the weaving.
