Description
19th-century Napoleon III fauteuil armchair features a curved back crest and open, upholstered U-shaped barrel backrest on balusters, graceful arms, an upholstered seat, and cabriole legs terminating in square beaded brass plates and wooden caster wheels. The painted frame is ivory with gold accents, and the upholstery is turquoise and olive jacquard. This chair blends elements of older design styles like Louis XV with French Regency for an opulent and eclectic result typical of Second Empire design.
Please review the items condition and all photos thoroughly. This Chair is sturdy and useable as-is but will require professional restoration to elevate it to its former glory.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Needs Restoration
Condition Notes: Fair antique condition. The Chair is sturdy and functional, but visual wear includes scratches and discoloration to paint, one rip in seat upholstery 1.5" long, and discoloration on the back cushion upholstery. The furniture joints look like cracks where the paint has separated over time. Similarly, some of the pegs are visual, while others remain well hidden. Two areas of previous repair are below the back seat cushion and on the inside of one back leg, where a shallow crack runs along that inside face but does not continue through the leg itself.
