Pair of original 18th-century French copperplate engravings from Histoire naturelle by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon. These plates depict Terebratula (brachiopod shells) and are engraved after drawings by Pierre-Joseph Redoute, with engraving credited to Benard. Printed on laid paper with period-appropriate toning and wear. Plate numbers 243 and 246. An excellent example of Enlightenment-era scientific illustration, ideal for collectors, interior design, or natural history display.
