William Hunt Diederich wrought iron, wire mesh, and bronze fire screen, 33" H x 47" W. In fine original condition with excellent provenance, having been in the possession of one family since its purchase from the artist's studio in the mid-1920s. The lot is accompanied by a charming photograph of the young daughter of the purchasers sitting in front of the fire screen in their Scarsdale, New York home. Bronze base is unusual, a large study of a similar fire screen with a bronze base almost identical in design was sold by Doyle, April 16, 2024, lot 595. Provenance: Ithaca, New York collection. Purchased from the daughter of the sitter in the photograph.
