Sioux Beaded Hide Bag, with Geronimo Attribution
late 19th century
thread-sewn and beaded using colors of cobalt, red white-heart, pea green, yellow, and white; interior with Joe Sun Hawk name in blue; hide coated with yellow pigment
length 6 x width 8-1/2 inches
included is a notarized letter:
Sold to Raymond Brown this 9th day of August, 1976, one beaded buckskin bag, “Good Luck” design, with sinew stitching. My great grandfather, Geronimo, carried this bag for good luck. The small bag was a secret medicine bag. This bag was kept in a trunk for sixty years and I inherited it from my father, Geronimo of Taos.
