Description
Late 19th century. Round woven baskets, four with leather trim/decoration. 8.5" to 13" diameter. The largest basket retains a note that it was part of an Arapaho dice game that was collected by Rev. Perrig of the Holy Rosary Mission. Rev. Emil Perrig (1846-1909) spent more than two decades with the Lakota peoples, including time at the Holy Rosary Mission, which was on the Pine Ridge Resveration. His voluminous papers are part of the collection of the Jesuit Papers at Marquette University. Provenance: an Ohio collection.
