Crafted by hand, this is a pair of wall sconces. They are comprised of hand painted white faux alabaster marbled bowl shaped glass slip shades and metal bronze toned wall brackets inspired by wall hung handled medieval torches. These 1940s reproduction baroque inspired lighting fixtures conjure simultaneous but multiple design cues. They are partly art nouveau, and conjure a touch of Basque, and a feeling of medieval castle and certainly ideally suited for Mission style home with craftsman architecture. It's versatile design scheme renders an eclectic understated elegance that has an antique quality and a forever style which is perfect for numerous motifs. This pair of wall lights were recently obtained from a Craftsman style home in Pasadena California where they had hung since 1946. The sconces are hard wired. No makers mark discoverable. (circa 1940s)
