A table lamp that has a cylinder shaped body that is hand painted with a series of square shaped iimages that are presented in a quilt pattern. The gridlines that seperate the tile-like squares is presented in a faded turquoise colored glaze. The images are glazed in pastel tones of yellow red, green and black. Each Square has a pair of images that depect two people that represent different scenes depicting various images of men and women sometimes two men other times older man and younger man etc. and of various ethnicities wearing farm style country clothing.

Our guestimate is that this lamp is from the Netherlands (circa 1960s). Our consensus is based on the clothing which consists of plaid skirts, parka style overcoats, fur hats, suspenders, boots, checkered shits, farm hats, knit caps and crocheted sweaters. The story being told throught the distinct vignettes seems to be from a country farm in winter. the actual message being told in each square is unknown and left to the viewer to create their own interpretation.

Lamp Shade: brand name EDWARD SHADES signed at the top of the wire frame where the finial which is a 2.5" H pointed shaped and made of polished brass the shade is black semi gloss black paper on the outside with a cream colored paper on the inside. They sandwich a hard plastic lining. Dimensions :16" W x 12" H.

Lamp: 21" H from base to the top of the light fixture (not harp) and the square plinth-like base that is made of wood and finished in in a satin black tone is 6" W x 6" L x 1" H.

This lamp is priced for the lamp itself . Lamp Shade, finial and decorative tassels are not original to the lamp and are offered with our compliments to the buyer of this lamp. This lamp may not be returned if the return is based on disatisfaction or condition of the lamp shade, finial or tassels.
