Description
Unusual English Ironstone, twelve sided plates in a 'Marble' pattern, sometimes called 'Cracked Ice.'
A scarce pattern that mixes well with other plates, especially white for a modern look.
A tissue printed sheet pattern, applied under the glaze, in shades of black and gray on a white stoneware body showing nice bluing. A set of four, each plate varies slightly in intensity of color.
Impressed on the verso, 'Read Ironstone' attributed to Jonah Read - Hanley, Staffordshire, England, circa 1833-1839
Measures: 8.0 in. diameter x 1.0 in. height.
