Description
A French Art Deco styled Fork and Spoon salad serving set made of natural horn, Bakelite, and silver plate, circa 1920s. Found in une vente de Maison de Maitre in Vouvent, the Vendee region of France.
A fabulous set, the spoon and fork sections are hand carved from translucent horn and set with Fourre silver collars. Fourre involves a sheath of silver covering a resin body. The pattern shows a stylized geometric pattern typical of the Art Deco period. The Bakelite handles run from a deep amber to butterscotch in coloring.
The set is in the original fitted, fabric lined presentation case. The case shows the name of the Horologerie & Bijouterie, a watchmaking and jewelry establishment called R. Durand in Chantonnay. Chantonnay is a commune in the Vendee department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France.
