Kyle Polzin received his formal fine-art training at Victoria College beginning in 1992, with an emphasis on oil painting, and further developed his skills through instructional sessions with noted Texas painter Dalhart Windberg, whose work had influenced him since childhood. He also learned the importance of craftsmanship from his grandfathers, both accomplished carpenters, an influence reflected in the careful, highly finished quality of his work. Drawing inspiration from the horses, Gulf Coast, and South Texas heritage of his upbringing, Polzin is known for richly detailed, painterly depictions of the American West, particularly cowboys, horses, and Texas landscapes. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, including the Autry National Center's Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale, where he received the Don B. Huntley Spirit of the West Award for outstanding cowboy subject matter three consecutive years, as well as the Express Ranches Great American Cowboy Award at the 2013 Prix de West in Oklahoma City.
