Footnotes: Provenance Miss Ritchie, by whom gifted to the present owner Private Collection, U.K. Born in Durban in 1902, Trekkie Parsons (née Marjorie Tulip Ritchie) came to England with her family in 1917 and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1920, where she was taught by Philip Steer and Henry Tonks. Working professionally as T. Ritchie, she developed a distinctive practice as an artist and lithographer, producing illustrations and book designs as well as her own publications. Parsons was also closely connected to London's literary and artistic circles through her friendships with members of the Bloomsbury Group, including Leonard and Virginia Woolf. She continued to work as an artist and illustrator throughout her life, and died in England in 1995.
