Description
Chinese porcelain Famille Rose peony vase, finely drawn birds among garden rocks and leafy branching peonies, with a gilt lip, an incised carmine red glazed swirl pattern in low relief on the neck and body, and a white glazed interior and inset base. The decoration of the neck starts with a narrow ring of black and white diagonals, two wide bands of dense black and white lattices of wan li characters quartered with floral medallions, three smaller alternating bands of celadon green, and a large band of black and white Ru Yi lappets with urnas on incised red spirals which is bracketed by black and white meander borders above and below. The black and white glazed meander border continues on the foot. A four character sky blue Yongzheng Yuzhi reign mark within double blue squares is glazed to the inset base. Circa late 19th century, no later than early 20th. The traditional Chinese finely carved hongmu stand is included.
