Description
An uncommon Italian maiolica apothecary jar in a striking triangular form, hand-painted in saturated cobalt on a crisp white ground. The central cartouche reads Sciroppo di Tamarindo (tamarind syrup), framed by scrolling foliage and stylized tamarind roots that wrap continuously around all three sides.
The white ground is clean and bright, allowing the cobalt decoration to read sharply and confidently. The brushwork has natural tonal variation, consistent with hand-painted Italian studio maiolica in the Deruta/Umbria tradition.
This is a decorative apothecary form made for display rather than pharmacy use - collected for its graphic impact, rarity of shape, and unmistakably Italian character.
