Description
This exquisite Japanese woodblock print by the renowned artist Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) measures 17 x 20 inches (framed) with an image size of 10 x 14 1/4 inches. The print, which dates back to the 1830s, is signed 'KÅchÅrÅ Kunisada ga' and features the 'kiwame' censor seal along with the publisher's seal of Iseya SÅemon. It's part of the series 'Fukusa-ya imose no nishiki', which translates to 'A Married Couple's Brocade from the Fukusa Shop'. This piece captures a beautiful scene, showcasing a gourd-shaped cartouche depicting Kinpusen on Sado Island. While the print has been well-preserved in a modern frame with excellent condition, it does exhibit some age-related issues such as fading, foxing spots, light creasing, and a small tear in the lower right corner. Utagawa Kunisada was one of the most popular artists of his time, creating over 20,000 designs featuring beautiful women and kabuki actors. Don't miss the chance to own this significant piece of Japanese art history.
