Description
Description:Hardcover second edition of "Stalin: An Appraisal of the Man and His Influence" by Leon Trotsky, edited and translated from the Russian by Charles Malamuth, published by Harper & Brothers, New York and London, copyright 1941. Illustrated with period photographs and portraits of Bolshevik-era figures including Lenin, Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev, and Stalin himself. This unfinished biography was Trotsky's last major work, written in exile in Mexico and left incomplete at his assassination in August 1940; it was compiled and published posthumously from his manuscripts. A significant title for collectors of Soviet history, Russian Revolution literature, and Trotsky's own writing. Includes a library ownership stamp on the title page.Condition Report:Good vintage condition, wear commensurate with age. The cloth covers show overall wear with bumping and fraying at the spine ends and corners, along with general surface rubbing to the black cloth. The gilt spine lettering shows some fading.
