Description
This is an antique mahogany bowfront dressing glass (period term) made in England between 1800-1810 as a lady or gentleman's dressing table mirror. Mahogany is the primary wood with pine its secondary. Satinwood stringing inlay borders the mirror, drawers, and body of the piece. The bracket feet are original. The piece has been restored in some places: The mirror frame may be partially replaced and the brass drawer pulls are 20th century. The middle drawer is original but the two outer drawers are partially replaced. The mirror itself is not original, but very old and is held up by original posts with one post having been reset. There is some wear to the surface with a section of scratches on the left side. In person, these scratches appear to be old and do not deter from the beauty of the piece. The dressing glass came from a Baltimore, Maryland family. Dimensions are 22" tall and 21.5" wide and 8.5" deep.
