A beautiful early 20th. Century Chinoiserie oviform ginger jar hand decorated with rich under glaze enamels. The round body has a continuous 'peach tree and fruit' theme that continues through to the lid, the pattern is uninterrupted which indicates the care taken with this piece. White background with green foliage, peaches and topped with a finial. Free-style spurious red hand painted four character reign mark on underside 'indicating' this was made 1861-1875, Tongzhi reign (18611875) of the Qing dynasty.

When the fruit ripened every 3,000 years, this was celebrated by a sumptuous banquet attended by the Eight Immortals.
