Useful Wisconsin Pottery (of Columbus WI) serving or mixing bowl in the the Early American stoneware, salt-glazed style. This item is an authentic hand-turned, hand-painted, salt-glazed stoneware piece made in the classic folk pottery tradition. It is an original work of art, bearing the potter's mark, the stamp of "Wisconsin Pottery, Columbus WI. 1988" on the front and the authenticating 'MEL' stamped on the bottom. I like this bowl for serving chilled fresh blueberries!
Beautiful glaze shows the characteristic 'orange peel finish' with a classic natural, grey toned base color with a cobalt blue leaf and branch design. Bowl's interior shows a deep mahogany brown.
This piece is vitreous, waterproof and functional by holding both heat and cold. It's a great piece for cooking and serving.
