Description
Offered is a staved Teak wood carving and meat tenderizing board that multi-tasks as a cheese and charcuterie serving tray designed by Jens H. Quistgaard for Digsmed in the early 1960s and made in Langa, Denmark at the Traevarefabrik workshop of Richard Nissen. It is slightly angled to capture juices, features a round carved raised and textured center to hold the meat in place, and it has two triangular incisions on the bottom/rear side that make it possible to hang and display on a wall.
It measures 14.5" in diameter, 1.25" in height, and its round base is 13.25" in diameter.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: The Teak wood board is in overall good vintage condition. Other than some minor scuffs and a small visible nick on the innner rim (see photos), there are no cracks, fissures, stains, or deep utensil marks or scratches. It has been thoroughly cleaned and gently revived with a blend of food-safe oil and beeswax to nourish and preserve the wood. Any wear is commensurate with its age and past usage.
