Description
A collection of Andean-style textiles comprising an embroidered runner and several woven cloths. The central runner is crafted from a red wool ground featuring dense needle-worked embroidery in black, green, tan, and white yarns. The embroidery depicts two primary figures: a crowned anthropomorphic deity or shamanic figure positioned above a stylized feline creature with an elaborate headdress and spirit-breath motif. The iconography is consistent with traditional Paracas designs. The accompanying woven textiles consist of a bright orange ground featuring horizontal bands of warp-patterned stripes in shades of blue, purple, red, and green. Alternating rows of stylized animal or deity faces in yellow, green, and blue are integrated into the woven patterns. The edges of the woven pieces are finished with simple overcast stitching in orange yarn. No marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the textiles.
