A Very Nice Antique New England Fan back Windsor Side Chair, Circa 1790
New England circa 1780-1800
Possibly Vermont, or Connecticut.
Nicely shaped seat, and fan-back. The seat appears to be made of basswood which may indicate a possible Vermont origin. The tapered legs and stretcher shape are similar to a Connecticut or Northern New England form. The legs are made from Maple, and the crest rail, and rear spindles are all made from Oak.
Size: 36" tall, 16" deep, 22 1/2" wide at the crest rail. 16" seat height.
Condition: Refinished. Minor powder post beetle holes in the seat, this is common in basswood. Use and wear marks associated with age. Appears to retain the full seat height of 16"
