Antique 19th Century Wedgwood Jasperware Neoclassical Vesta Candle Holder

Description

Antique 19th century Wedgwood jasperware vesta candle holder match safe and night light. Decorated with panels of neoclassical figures in white sprig on a dark blue ground. A vesta is a short match with a shank of wax covered thread. The vestas were stored inside the jar, the bottom of the jar is scored for use in string the match. Once lit, the vesta is placed in the hole at the top for use as a candle holder or night light. Measures 3 3/4" tall x 2 1/4" diameter. Good condition.
