oil on canvas, circa 1948, signed lower right.

Vibrant composition depicts Norwegian mountain range receding to verdant valley with farmhouses, trees, and winding path beneath dramatic sky; stretcher inscribed Eidsbygda, Norge.

Canvas: 35 3/4 by 25 3/4 inches; frame: 38 3/8 by 28 1/2 inches.

Palle Kierulf (Denmark 1917-1987) studied at the Technical School in Frederiksberg at Bizzie Hoyer, then at the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. He travelled to Holland, Belgium, France, Italy (in 1938) and Norway (in 1948). He exhibited extensively throughout Scandinavia in the mid 1930's through the 1960's. His father was the well-known Danish painter Frode Kierulf.
