A vibrant pair of original oilstick landscapes by contemporary American artist Susan R. Wilson, an Illinois-based painter raised in Iowa whose expressive landscapes celebrate the color and rhythm of the American countryside. Executed just days apart in July 2002, these companion works-"Ample Spaces" (dated July 9, 2002) and "Spaces with River" (dated July 3, 2002)-beautifully complement one another through their shared palette, sweeping compositions, and energetic painterly style.
Created in oilstick, Wilson's preferred medium, each work features richly layered texture and saturated hues inspired by Post-Impressionism and Fauvism. Brilliant yellows, lush greens, deep magentas, and vibrant crimson skies create dramatic interpretations of rolling hills, wooded landscapes, and open farmland.
Both paintings remain in their original black wood gallery frames with antiqued gilt liners and generous museum-style mats.
