An elegant mid-20th-century French Provincial and Rococo Revival wall mirror by John Widdicomb, circa 1950s, featuring a richly gilt sculptural frame with sweeping curves, foliate ornament and prominent shell motifs. The shaped frame is crowned by a large radiating scallop-shell crest above a gracefully arched mirror plate, with carved acanthus and foliate details flowing along the shoulders and sides. A floral rocaille cartouche anchors the shaped lower edge. The reverse retains its original wood backing and metal manufacturer's plaque stamped MADE BY john widdicomb.
